Chowdhury has experience across the areas of family, immigration, crime and civil litigation.

In addition to thorough cross-examination, Chowdhury’s experience in criminal and public law allows him to give practical advice and solutions in complex cases. Chowdhury has an understanding of cultural differences when it comes to family and children proceedings involving South Asian culture and is able to explain the context to the court resulting in favourable decision. Chowdhury goes the extra mile and is able to prepare a case within short notice.

Chowdhury was called to the Bar in 2009. He completed LL.M in ADR before going to work with the United Nations at their Headquarters in New York. He worked in the Administrative Law Unit preparing cases for the UN Dispute Tribunal.

Children’s Law

Chowdhury has experience dealing with a range of private law matters including matters involving child Arrangements Orders and Prohibited Steps Order. He represents individuals at First Hearing Dispute Resolution Appointments, Direction Appointments, Fact-Finding Hearings and Final Hearings. Chowdhury has experience dealing with matters involving allegations of domestic abuse and alcohol misuse.

 

 

Private Family Law

In addition to private law children matters,  Chowdhury has experience dealing with private law family matters involving non-molestation orders, occupation orders and transfer of tenancy. Chowdhury has been involved with various fact-finding and final hearings under the Family Law Act 1996 and successfully represented his clients.

 

 

Family Proceedings:

 

Chowdhury has been working in the family proceedings in both children and financial matters. Chowdhury has knowledge of financial matters and he regularly appears in financial proceedings. Chowdhury is happy to discuss with the professional-client or the lay client on direct access basis about any case.

 

 

Civil Law

 

Chowdhury has a varied civil practice and appears in both Fast Track and Small Claims trials. Chowdhury is instructed on behalf of Claimants and Defendants in a range of matters including road traffic accidents, contractual and credit hire cases.

 

Immigration:

Chowdhury is regularly instructed to appear in the First-tier and Upper Tribunals in asylum, human rights and deportation appeals, for vulnerable adults and children. He has particular experience in representing Asylum seekers, unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors and individuals with mental health needs. Chowdhury also has good knowledge of drafting grounds and skeleton argument for Court of Appeal,  grounds for judicial review including challenges to decisions relating to fresh claims and the granting of indefinite leave to remain.

 

Crime:

Chowdhury is an Agent Prosecutor of the Crown Prosecution Service and appears for both Prosecution and defence. Chowdhury also appears in the Crown, Magistrates and Youth courts for trials, bail hearings, sentencing, traffic trial and extradition hearings.

 

 

Chowdhury is an Advocate of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh where he regularly appears. He is an Associate with the country’s leading law firm Dr. Kamal Hossain & Associates and worked in a number of high-profile domestic and international cases. He wishes to practise cross-jurisdiction and build up an international practice.
